Notre Dame Academy opens.

Architect: Patrick Keeley. It is located at 2897 Washington Street. Originally a boarding school for Catholic girls training to become teachers, the school moves to Hingham in 1961. The school is demolished as part of the Washington Park urban renewal plan in 1963 and Academy Homes I is built on the site.
